Red Cliff - WIP started

Saw the movie RED CLIFF tonight and I'm totally inspired to paint some stuff like it. Even though I paint stuff like it all day at work on Kaboom of Doom. Anyways this is very early on. Just fleshing out the character I want. I'll paint this over a few days and see where it goes. I'm saving out versions so that I can show some progression.

Figure Drawing Part II

Monday lunch figure drawing...with a sharpie marker... part II

Very uniquely proportioned model, short legs, very very tiny waist. I may have exaggerated a bit to make it look more natural actually. Strange drawing experience, but it forces you to draw what you see, not what you know (or think you know).

Figure Drawing Part 1

Two days in a row!! I'm on a roll!
These are some 2-5 min figure drawings
photos taken with my phone by a window
so sorry about the quality of the photos
of course I doubt that's why my drawings
look the way they do...I'll start uploading
these every week now...maybe I'll improve.

The other project I've been working on mostly though is "The Ringling 100" a collaborative art book created by the donations of lots of highly talented artists. It's sort of like a year book or art for people involved with The Ringling COllege of Art and Design. After 2 years of getting it off the ground we are a month away from final submissions! Thanksgiving of this year is the cut off date. Then we have to organize everything for the judges and send it off to them. Once we get the scores back from them we can start laying out the book in December and hopefully be ready for print by January 2010. All the money from the books that get sold are going to go towards making scholarships for Ringling students.

I've been asked why I'm doing this and especially why am I doing it without getting anything in return. Well, first off because it is fun to create something, and if we can help someone else in the process then it is worth it. Secondly, I'm thankful for everything I have and all that I was given so in a way this is like giving back. Third, the book will be something I can look back at and be proud of and lastly when I say I'm going to do something I follow through on it no matter how long it takes. I"m just stubborn like that.
Happy Halloween!!

I went as the newer Superboy a.k.a. Conner Kent. Mostly becaue I didn't have time or money to make a costume and he wears jeans and a black shirt with a Superman S on it. I cut one out of paper and sewed it on. Looked good enough!
Well I've fleshed out some more background on some characters and I'm finding a way to structure the story starting from the conclusion and working my way backwards. Some things I thought were good before can't work out in the time line that I have created for myself so some earlier story points are going to have to be changed around a bit. Writing is a fun puzzle to solve even before you start.
